    There are a number of ways of getting hold of repossessed cars in Utah. Traditionally, places that get hold of the repo cars like police departments, government agencies, credit unions or those dealers that represent these bodies advertize locally in the press or on the radio.

    More and more, it is possible to find repossessed cars auctions being promoted online, in classified ads and at auction websites. But it is by no means an easy task to seek out repossessed cars in Utah in this way. I have listed below a number of resources that hold car auctions but they are not always repossessed cars and so the deals are not always as good. Don’t get me wrong, it is still possible to get great deals this way.

    I would suggest phoning these auction places in your area (use ctrl “f” to search the page for your town or city). Ask them what kind of auctions they hold, especially ask if they deal with bank repossessed cars, seized cars or ex-agency fleet cars. These are often the best bargain cars to be had as they are usually in good condition.

    Many of these places will have a mailing list or will get in touch with you if you show an interest and want to leave your contact details. Try also the credit unions in your local town. They often outsource the sale of repossessed cars to local dealers but they can give you the lowdown on when a new lot will be on offer.

    In Utah, like in all other states there are some auctions that are public auto auctions but others that are dealer only. A good trick, if possible, is to get friendly with a dealer who can get you into these.

    The basic principle is rather simple: water is made of hydrogen and oxygen. After you manage to obtain these elements out of which hydrogen fuel is the important one, you combine them back (by a process specialists like to call burning) and thus you get free energy. Hooray for chemistry!

    Did you spot the problem yet? Well… let me help you. Obtaining hydrogen and oxygen consumes more power than you would get by simply burning them and this would apparently make the whole water engine thing useless.

    Bummer? Not quite.

    What does the law say on repossessed cars?

    Having your car repossessed can be a traumatic event. You need to know the law and, in particular, the law in your state, to know what you might be up against. The law as laid out in New York is as follows. It is generally the same in many states but it is worth checking for particulars in your area.

    If you fail to keep up payments on your vehicle, the creditor has the right to repossess the car immediately.

    They do not have to give any notice and may seize the car as long as they do not breach the peace and as long as they proceed in a reasonabe manner.

    Usually, this would mean a period of grace where contact is made and all reasonable attempts are made to settle the debt. However, YOU CANNOT RELY ON THIS!

    The creditor does not even have to involve the courts. They could, potentially, arrive to repossess the car immediately that a default has been made on repayment. Defaults will be defined in the contract that you have with the lender so ensure that you are aware of these.

    Please note your rights in the event of repossession. This following is quoted from the Better Business Bureau concerning repossessed cars and repossessed vehicles seizure in New York. Note: this may differ in other states!

    Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles

    New York law requires a creditor who repossesses your motor vehicle or motorcycle to notify you personally, or by special delivery first class mail, within 24 hours of such repossession. Such notice must also be given to the nearest motor vehicle district office and must include the name and address of the person, firm, or corporation repossessing the vehicle.

    If your motor vehicle or motorcycle is being held under a lien for repairs or storage, the holder of the vehicle must return to you any registration plates for such vehicle upon your request within 24 hours. If the creditor fails to do this, he/she must personally deliver or mail by special delivery first class mail, a notice of such holding and the number plates of such motor vehicle or motorcycle to the nearest motor vehicle office.
